TRAINING PHILOSOPHY EXPLAINED

AEROBIC CAPACITY

Most runner's aerobic capacity is not efficient enough for the event they are training for. Here's the good news, everyone can increase their aerobic capacity by an impressive amount! This can be done by increasing the distance of their long runs, their overall mileage, but more specifically, increasing their aerobic tempo runs in distance.

ANAEROBIC CAPACITY

Many coaches neglect the anaerobic capacity until pre-competition or competition phase. Coach Vigil and several other exercise scientist have proven this to be incorrect. You can practically train your anaerobic capacity year around as long as you keep the effort below 86% during base phase! Your prescribed pace can be determined by a simple all out mile time trial. Year around anaerobic training is tested and proven on my current athletes and myself.

No cookie cutters here

No two runners are the same! So no two runners will be coached that way. We all have different strengths, weaknesses, and needs. Although each training plan will be Vigil driven, each training plan will be unique and individualized.

Bio-Mechanics

Most running related injuries occur due to deficiencies in muscle groups or range of motion. Coach Christian refers directly Anatomy for Runners, written by exercise scientist and bio-mechanic guru Jay Dicharry, to help pin point these deficiencies in his athletes. One of the biggest keys to running faster is simply staying healthy, so we will work on that as well.
